Agristarts is saying Siam Ruby, but we've also seen "Siam Red", "Ace of Hearts", and "Red Leaf Banana".
I'm going with Musa 'Siam Ruby'. ps the thread title was changed to reflect the "proper" name about two weeks or so ago. That's why some older posts' title will say "Siam Red". When Terry started this thread on it, it was a little less known and different names were being tossed around.

Looks like it's getting red to me. The light streaks on the leaf looks like the same thing I get on mine every night, but it's dark green and turns back normal in the morning. No red on mine yet though. Still in full sun and roots staying between 75* and 85*.

Anyone else notice that Siam Ruby seems to need a huge amount of water ? I've got mine in well drained potting soil with a bunch of Perlite in it. It's always at the very least well moist , but I've noticed after a heavy rain Siam Ruby's leaves are full and not looking wimpy like they do most of the time. Perhaps the wimpy look is because it still has a small root system and does not take up water on a hot day as fast as it needs too. Any ideas ?
Later Steve

Steve,
I have noticed this too. It seems to need a little water every day. I think your right about the root system not being large enough yet.

Thanks , well at least it's not just me , it could be the colour of the plant too , being very dark leafed it must aborb more heat , this may increase the need for water as the speed the moisture evaporates from the leaf pores would increase with the heat .

Sorry to be slow on replys. It seems I have not been getting emailed all the replys to the post.
As for replacements on the green or yellow forms. I will have them going out this Monday and Tuesday. I have had to wait to make sure the ones I have are red. I have been getting a lot with blotches and some totally yellow green. |

I think it must be said again " A Huge Thanks to Brian " for sorting out Siam Ruby , seems it's been a bit of a trial for you. I hope in the long run you make some profit on the whole deal as it would be great if you keep organizing access to rare Musa.
Thanks again from a guy with a coloured one . Later Steve

Hi Brian! I'm the one who's arrived broken in several places. I think the postal service workers were playing volleyball with the box.
