I've got a feeling that just might be in Brian's 'oddballs' -

snipped from his post up ^ there:
'I need to post the odd balls that I have pulled out some variegated and odd streaked forms. I will do it as they grow up a bit they may just be young mutations.'

Brian? Briiiiaaaannn? We're ready for the next wave! Pictures, please .... lots of 'em! (when you're ready, I likes to tease!)

Mine was a wee bit smaller than your 1st pic, but she's growing well (we have a new leaf since arrival - YAY!) & catching up! I gotta get a camera ... your pics of the progression are a great idea!

Thanks Pithy_Cherub, I didn't expect to see mine color so fast either, but I've been giving it 6-8 hours of direct sunlight a day. I wish I would have taken pictures daily to show the progression,in the last 2 days, the changes have been dramatic!

I CALL FOUL !!!!!!

Nanaman has TWO pups!!!!

Congrats on the color. Mine is still all green but about the same. I'm too scared to put it in any direct sun so maybe that's why.

Thanks again Brian.

Thanks Terry, I just like to push the envelope as far as sunlight goes, usually after 2/3 days, the plant adjusts to it & really starts to take off. Besides, as you pointed out, that 2nd. pup is my backup plan. Ha!

Temps going up here in Bethesda, I'll put plants out tomorrow in the shade and see how the Siam Ruby starts to colour up.
Brian if your looking in I have a thread in 'other plants' that would benefit from your expert attention .
Thanks

ROTFLMAO .... noticed that too, didja? I just averted my eyes & kept repeating to myself: That's okay, MY luck is gonna hit on the Ae'Ae fruiting/date contest! Seeing all that red on his Siam made it easy to look at, too!

I'm being skeery/cautious, too - between the cold snaps that keep sneaking in & the kitty critters prowling my garden, I'm letting it get some 'grow on' before setting it outside for more than a few hours a day. AND only when I'm home to keep a wary eye on her!

Chipping in w/your shout-out to Brian ... he done us all a good turn here, w/humor & grace. Thanks, Brian!

I set one out in full sun and it is looking much like your photo above. It's good to see the red coloration coming in. I have seen a few with more streaking but all in all they seem to be turning red.

Mine is a about a leaf behind that nice one , a little leaf burn from too much sun , my fault. It's in shade for the afternoon now , it just gets morning and late afternoon sun and is happier.Mine also has that little pup thing growing at the side , I guess they all do. I hope the little pup is dividable at some point.

Man those pics are starting to look good! Can't wait for mine to get here, but since I ordered on the very last day of the offer I may have to keep waiting a bit! It'll be worth it I'm sure. Keep posting more pics!
Thanks,

Got mine today! Its healthy with just a hint of red starting on the largest leaf, and has the little pup attached also!

Gonna pot it now I guess and get it in full sun asap, at least for a couple of hours a day.

Thanks again Brian!

My replacement arrived today. The apparently frozen one only hung in there about a week. This one looks great. Thanx.

No fault of Brian's. USPS just beat the crap out it.

Anna,
Why not email Brian and tell him what happened. He said he was going to guarantee the product, and it included protection from shipping mishandling. He appears to be very upfront guy. I'm sure he'll work something out with you. If this happened to me, that's what I would do.

So far, I've been lucky. I got mine with all the leaves bent and the pot was even cracked. And I was in Walnut Creek, CA when it arrived in Seattle WA. A week later, I was back and saw the condition of the plant. I now have it with me in Walnut Creek(hand carried it with my miniature guavas) and last week, I saw a hair of a leaf trying to push thru. Today, the leaf almost 2 inches long and it looks like it wants to grow!

Hi Chong,

I did write/send pics to Brian. I was just hoping that the plant would make it. It really tried to. Brian was great, and did say he would send a new one.
That is great about yours! I hope it continues to grow! They sure are beautiful plants!

Sorry to hear about your banana. Great to hear you are going to get another. I've been really worried that mine would not make it(being so new to the plant growing world). So far all seems well and I am finally starting to see some red begin to show. Can't wait for a few more months then maybe I'll feel a little more confident that I will not kill it. Would love to see others to know that mine is progressing the way it should. Good luck to all.

Mine showed up pretty beaten up as well, with a bent pseudostem and burnt leaves. Since then, I've repotted it, and it has straightened its pseudostem and been growing nicely. I even have a pup, like several others do. It is, however, still very green, with not even a hint of red showing yet.
