Default Possibly a flag leaf?

I hope this little one (bronze laterita) isn't shooting out pups and a flower because I'm killing it! Brent your pup bloomed while still short but I don't remember it looking this short and mine doesn't look as healthy as the photo of yours.

I'm really excited about it possibly sending out a flower but apprehensive thinking that something is wrong.

yep its flowering, nothing to worry about though. If its already making pups your sure to have it live on, sure doesn't look like you're killing it to me.

YES!!! I love flag leaf "season"!

I'd say in 3-5 days you'll be taking pictures of the first bract opening. Then comes the ants who love the nectar from the flowers.

You go girl! Looks like your first bloom is on the way. Don't worry about it blooming at a short height. You were one of the first people I sent lateritas out to this spring, so you got some of the larger pstems, even though they were cut back, physiologically they were older, so they are blooming shorter. That's why mine bloomed at like a foot tall. I ended up cutting that one off and another stalk bloomed a couple of weeks later. My pot of laterita now has about 6 pstems coming up, with the tallest one being about 4', but no more blooms yet. I'm expecting to see a flag any day now. Last year my pot of laterita had up to 5 or 6 blooms on it at any one time. I wouldn't be surprised to see you get a bloom off of one of your pups late in the season.

Ohhh, ok I'm starting to understand it now. You really have beautiful plants. I'm looking forward to a clump with several blooms at once and saying, "I've got to contain these, they're spreading everywhere!"

Thanks again!
Deb
