Default Possible Java Blue?

I purchased this banana plant last summer. It started flowering this year. It was labeled as Java Blue 'Icecream'. It is around 6 feet tall. The fruit lacks the bluish green tinge. Will it change color later?

I can say with 100% certainty that you are the proud owner of a dwarf namwa.

My namwa (tall) fruits always have a small bit of purple on the banana fingers when they have just opened. It fades in time. Did your bananas have any coloring on them when the bract first opened?

Q for BBJ: Do Dwarf Namwa's have the purple color on new fingers like tall namwa?

Here's a pic of newly uncovered tall namwa bananas. See the purple coloring where they attach to the peduncle?

Not sure. Never seen a dwarf namwa bloom. They just look like namwa bananas and since it is only six feet tall I thought dwarf namwa. Maybe I am wrong. Take a picture of the whole plant.

199/200 it always turns out to be a namwa so that is a good bet...however this plant doesn't show the normal namwa tells from what I have seen in my patch. I don't see any red lining on the edge of the mid ribs, can't make any determination based on pstem since its covered by old, dead growth, leaves seem to be a bit shorter than what I see on my namwas, and the fruit although similiarly shaped does not have the purplish ring where the fingers connect to the platform/peduncle. Also the crown looks different to me. Mine usually make an initial crown then shoot up a bit with three or so leaves and then the flower comes out.

Tall namwas can fruit at short height if they lack resources so height is not a major indicator for me.

I suggest making a link from your post in the banana id to this thread and maybe Gabe will drop in and give us the definitive answer.
