Default Possible disease?

Hello all,

I am a newbie in banana planting, so I'm seeking useful informations regarding my banana plant. I got a plant from friend of mine. It's growing pretty nice and fast, about a leave per week.

Anyway some leaves have got brown, dry spots. Not sure if the plant was fertilized too much or was exposured to direct sun as a young plant. New leaves are growing fine without spots or any visible signs of disease though.

Second thing that worries me is growing black spot on a stem. Could it be a disease? Or is it fine? What confuses me is fact that plant is growing fast a have got nice green leaves without spots.

The soil is mix of some palm tree soil and pearlite in rate of 50:50. Water draining is very good, most of water is draining down immediatelly.

Plant is growing inside, got about 73°F constantly during the day and the night. Humidity is about 60% +/-. I'm spraying the plant with water 2-3 times per day.

Please find attached picture.

Any respond and help will be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Alan

It may be too much water. Let it dry out between watering.

Hi guys,

Thank you for responds.

@IOWA, I reduced watering already, just spraying plant but soil keeps wet. Let it try out as suggested.

@Edwmax, unfortunately I have no idea what type is it actually. Friend of mine does not know it either. Maybe some else can confirm your guess? All I can say it does not grow to height much, so maybe you're right?

Brown spots that small are not a problem. Expecting all leaves on a banana plant to be perfect all the time is not realistic. The black patch is not an issue IF the color is surface only and there is no mushy, rotted material underneath it. If it is mushy and rotted, all such portions of the plant need to be removed forthwith.
