Re: pollination ?
Edible bananas are "parthenocarpic", which means they make fruit without pollination or fertilization of the ovules.

Is there a list of all species that are counted to be parthenocarpic? Because I found this information everywhere, that all "edible" bananas make fruit without pollination. But I also found the information that all bananas are edible, in the sense that you won`t get sick or die, no toxins. Some are just not palatable or worth it. which brings me back to what species are counted as parthenocarpic? |
