Default Planting Gros Michel in the ground

I recently made a thread to make sure of an ID on my bananas and it seems that they are what they were sold to me as "Gros Michel" but I was told that I should plant them in the ground now instead of keeping them in pots until they are bigger. I'm wondering if there is anything special I should do to make sure I start them off on the right foot because once they go in the ground, I do not want to have to dig them back up. We do get some nights/weeks in the winter that get around the freezing mark and these (for me) were very hard to find so I don't want to kill them off. That would be a bummer. Anyway, any tips for a newbie to not kill these when I go to plant them and make sure they have what they need? Our ground is pretty much sand. Should I add anything?

Not sure what California soil is like. I'm wondering if I need to do anything to the soil they are going into or if they will be fine in our pretty much sand-only-soil? Any fertilizer or mulch needed? What do I do when temperatures get low and we have frost? Will they be ok or do you cover them with something? Also, I was wondering if anyone knows how long until they should start producing bananas? Thanks for any help, I'm still figuring this banana thing out lol.

Plant them right in the sand and top dress with grass clippings or other mulching thing you prefer... Where you are, the frost may nip the leaves sometimes but they will come back. I would recommend getting a bag of black kow and mixing some in with your sand and top dress with a few double handfuls every few weeks to get started..

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.
