Is planting garlic near a banana plant a bad idea?
I hear garlic keeps away some bugs, so I was going to plant some in a container I'm growing a banana in. I also heard some vegetables pick up the garlic flavor so you shouldn't plant it near them. Any one know if the banana will pick up the flavor or if it should be okay to plant garlic to keep away some pests.

By the way, this whole idea of plants keeping away bugs from other plants is false. The bugs will of course ignore the distasteful plant and land right on the one that is appealing -- even when the plants are intermingled. |

What i see here is they surround corn and potatoe fields with sun- and
wildflowers, this seems to help probably cause it attracts other insects that kill bugs. So, it is always good to grow alot of flowers in your veggie garden. Ron... |

There should be no problem with interplanting. I plant marigolds with my tomatos to keep nematodes away. Certain oils and chemicals that plants naturally give off are beneficial to those surrounding them. So plant away and have a great harvest!
