This is my first time in planting bananas. I planted a banana corm 2 weeks before. I cut its roots and it was looking good. Watering once every 2 or 3 days. Now it is getting black. ![]() I never ever water new plants unless the soil is dust. The corm has more than enough moisture and energy for it to thrive. When I figured that out I stopped murdering them.

![]() It's normal for the old cut stem to die back so I wouldn't worry about that.
As long as the soil is well draining over watering shouldn't be a problem either. Warm soil temperature is ideal. From my experience they start growing after 2 weeks or so. Here is a African Rhino Horn Plantain corm I planted 16 days ago and it's just now starting to grow. ![]()
