Default Plant one or multiple?

When you all started your bananas, did you begin with one or did you plant a small grouping of several?

Don't know about your zone and that makes a difference. I am tropical and only ever plant one plant, which soon produces pups and a large mat. I have had over 12 pups per mother plant - you soon won't need to buy more!! lol
