Smile Plant Labels

Anyone know where to get bulk or cheap plastic plant labels? The ones that are t-shaped, with the big space that you write in? Seems to be a rare sight around here!

I am trying to find the aluminum strips that you write on with a pointed scribe. Imprents the letters into the thin alum and wonm't wash or fade off. Try and find THOSE ha ha

Good luck.

That sounds pretty hard to find. I don't think mine will be that hard to find compared to that. Anybody have any t-shaped plant labels up for sale or something. I would love to go though a person rather than all the computer machine order online stuff. It's too confusing !

I've always used those aluminum ones with the teeny wire attached that you scratch in the name. That works fine for small branches on most trees, but I'm a bit baffled by how to label bananas. I tried writing on the stem with a paint marker, but eventually the leaf would peal down.

I've been thinking of using that green tie tape and writing with a permanent marker on that. But a permanent marker won't even last as long as the tape.

and little marker stakes always seem to get kicked over or lost in the mulch.

So at present, I've just made a map and have no labels.

Actually, now that I think of it, I noticed at Joe Real's house, he used those aluminum tags WITH the green tie tape. But I think he must have drilled out big holes for those to pass the tape through.

Sounds good. But all my Banana trees are WAY too small to attach a metal tag. And also, will it hurt my trees? Hmmm, i am in a pickle. I like the plastic best, and metal might hurt my trees. Am I catching your idea? Or do Icut them up and stake them in the ground?

Ask Gabe- I know he gets these labels. I think he actually goes to his local hardware store to get them. I know with these, you can write on both sides without being able to see on the other side. I think you just put the label on the edge of the pot in this case.

as zac said, i do use these small metal tags, they are like $7 for 50 at a local hardware store. You can write on both sides (it depresses the writing into the metal so it will never fade away) and they come with a wire to attach them to a plant, a pot, a stake in the ground, or whatever you want. They are called Cole's Aluminum Identification Markers.

Thanks Gabe. The ones I'm talking about I have usually seen tied with a wire to a metal stake in the gtound (like a 12" piece of coat hanger wire pushed in the ground with a loop in the top to tie the wire to.)

I'll have to check the hardware store.

Taylor,
you might also find this site useful

Terry,
Target has metal tags where you stick them in the ground - the top is a copper nameplate, if you will, and the rest might be made of aluminum.
Have you seen those? Look for them next time your there...
