![]() I noticed that of few of the yellow fruits were splitting on top so pulled the first hand and tested them. WOW!!! They are little flavor bombs that remind me of Starburst candy. They have even more acid than the Hawaiian Apples do, but in a different way. These have a really strong Pineapple flavor that stays on your tongue for quite a while after tasting, about a half hour! The flesh is just slightly pink/orange colored, and the texture is a little dryer on the outside and firmer then the Apples. The aroma is really strong and sweet. I also noticed that the little strings on the inside of the peel are firmly stuck to the flesh. I'm sure that the fruits that ripen without splitting will get much sweeter as they fully ripen so that will be an interesting comparison to the barely ripe fruits I ate today. I can hardly wait!
Anyone who has received a Pisang Klotek pup from me can have 3 fingers mailed to them if you want to pay the USPS Priority postage of $5.00 Cedar Dave, if you would like to try them pm me and we'll try to figure how much the shipping is to your area. Hopefully they don't have dogs sniffing for food in the packages! To all others who would like to taste test them, you'll have to make a trip to Cali real soon before they are all gone! ![]() EDIT The fruit did get very sweet when allowed to ripen fully. They also stopped splitting once removed from the plant. My wife wants me to plant more of these! All gone. Lot's of people are now spoiled! Last edited by momoese : 07-26-2008 at 04:07 PM. |

The Pisang Klotek that I got from you is growing strong now that the weather changed. I think I'll just wait till this banana flower and fruit.

![]() Josh:
I am only saying that because I've eaten so many varieties of bananas for the last month when I went to the Philippines and Hawaii. At this time I am not inclined to eat anymore variety. In Maui when we tour the island, there were farmer 's stand on the freeway which they sell bananas without anybody at the stand. There's just the price per bunch and there's this can to put your money in. It's an honor system. Oh, there's more fruit for sale like papayas, pineapples, mangoes, etc... Besides we have many banana varieties available at the farmers' produce here coming from Mexico.

![]() Mitchel...
How generous of you to make this offer! My Dad and I had a great visit at Christmas time. The pup you gave me is growing hapily but slowly. It's about 4' tall with a 2' tall pup, so I won't be having fruit any time soon! I'll have to figure out what it wants to make it grow faster. I would love to taste some of the fruit! I'll PM you for the details! Thanks...Margie |

![]() Josh: correction please:
I meant I just started buying bananas through the internet but I've been growing bananas many many years. I would guess before you are born (lol). I just got serious growing them 2 years ago.And bananas was not my craziness until 2 years ago. I was once a moderator in one of the citrus forums but because I got so busy with my work I asked to be removed. And I found out bananas and citrus are very similar in many ways in growing them except when feeding fertilizer.

![]() Please let me know what you think about the flavor. So far everyone who has tried them said they are the best I've grown thus far. I'm almost out of fruit already! Even my wife raves about them, and she is not a fan of bananas! She said: "You have to grow more of these!"

![]() Mitchel,
I finished the last one yesterday! They are great, just like you said! They are like "little flavor bombs"! I can't wait for mine to fruit! The flavor is fuller and more intense than storebought. I like the sharp/pineapple/acidy zing! ![]() My Dad called to rave about them as well! ![]() Thanks for offering them for the taste test! Margie ![]() |
