Gard,
the Musa laterita is a wild ornamental speices, so it will not produce edible fruit, however it will produce a seeded fruit when pollinated. Musa 'Rose' is an edible type so it will produce seedless edible fruit.

Nice photos, and plants!
I was wondering since I just got a M.laterita this year, isn't the flower usally bronze colored? Or does it change as it progresses? |

This is pretty normal color, not so much bronze at all I guess. The name comes from the tropical soil laterite, which is considered to be a "brick red".

The Rose bananas very good! They never ripened on the plant before the plant began to dessicate but I cut the bunch green and they ripened fine in the kitchen.

More nice pics! I like that M. laterita flower. I must try that one outside here soon. The only problem would be space for the runners to run! I'm wondering how I'm going to prepare a bed for M. itinerans var. xishuangbannaensis...very large, I suppose. Either that or install a barrier, like they do for bamboo. Nah...I'll just dig a large bed
