Re: is this picture real?
I've seen similar pictures here on the org. One of them was maybe posted by Tog, one maybe by Gabe, it was about some banana market, but I'm not sure. All these varieties were there (this image is graphically enhanced) and they looked very unreal too, but were real in fact.
EDIT: If I recall well, the one in the left, green-whitish is Musa 'Ice Cream'. But I have no idea as to what are the other specimens. If you contacted someone like novisyatria, he might be able to translate those names for you, each bunch has its name on the shield and i think it looks like Malay language. But I might be wrong. Ae Ae's are variegated bananas, their leaf and fruit color is green with yellow and white stripes oriented lengthwise.

Re: is this picture real?
Yes it's real and I had someone translate the signs a long time ago but I'm not sure if that info was posted here or if I still have the info or not.

Re: is this picture real?
There is a huge variety of bananas: definitely more than we see in the US. Start with any of our green to yellow bananas, add in the reds, and then Ice Cream with its silver/blue color. Then there are shapes, from small to large, slender, fat, blunt nosed, pointy nosed, etc. It would be nice of we had access to some of the varieties in the pix.

Re: is this picture real?
The Thai name of that particular banana (grayish) can be translated as 'glowing moon' or 'color of the moon' or something along that line. Other pictures of the same banana show graying green or very pale green.
