Default PATUPI, beautiful bunch & tasting.

Hello, everyone.
So the cool temps are here & the banana bunches are coming in beautiful this year!
This is the best year I've ever had for Patupi. Though the 6 months of straight rain hit them really hard the first half of the year, this last half was perfect for the bananas.

This bunch featured was from a newly planted out sucker in Late march of this year. The only thing it was given was mounds of mulch around it.
The plant flowered in mid September(12th), and the bunch was ready around the end of October! From flag leaf to this bunch was 44 days.

This bunch is 52 pounds!
The fingers are the size of good Cavendish. It has 4 hands 60 fingers

Not Bad!!!
Patupi has come to be one of the top varieties that I grow. It is very carefree and is much more adapted to poor conditions than most bananas.

I'll post some pictures later of ripe fruit!

I started telling people to forget Veinte Cohol and just go for Patupi. Only thing annoys me but is a good thing for my neighbors is that they sucker non stop.

They are in the middle for sucker production. If you remove them they will pump out new ones just as fast, but otherwise they don't pour too much into suckering. There are ones that are far worse.
I found that it best to just leave these guys alone. They do not like to have their roots hacked at. They'll put out 4-5 suckers, but they wont grow much until the main stalk is done...

As for the Veinte Cohol comparison; its no match. its too unfair to compare.

Veinte cohol doesn't meet the requirements of 90 percent of my customers. Hardy, larger fruit, short cycle, and reliabe. Veinte cohol has good fruit but i have yet to have a person come over and choose veinte over Patupi. I do get people while very few who get both. I'll be proving out 8 new short cycle types next year so i can compare even more.

Wow! Looking good!

I tried to source a patupi this year but it fell through. I usually attend the International Boat Show in West Palm at the end of March so hopefully one of you guys in South/Central Florida can hook me up with a Patupi pup on the way back home to Pensacola!
