![]() I tried a different variety of banana this year to grow in a container since I lost mine to a bug invasion overwintering in a root cellar last year. I would like to try overwintering this Musa Zebrina either in our garage, not heated but attached to the house and insulated, or by planting it in a protected spot in the yard, mulching the roots. Both plans involve cutting it down to just above ground level. Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated. I am in zone 5/6.....right on the line.

Your plant will not tolerate the cold. For me that particular ornamental plant thrives in tropical conditions and not in anything less . Youtube has some good how to videos on bringing them indoors and repotting and such. You could pot the plant up and bring it indoors by a window and see how it does. |
