That is one of the best Orinoco pictures and plants I have seen Mike!!! Wonderfull plant! Most Orinoco mats I see are just too tight to be beautyfull...

Do you maybe know why the attachment point of the bananas in my previous photos,are getting brownish/black? It seems like they are getting ready to be aborted and desiccated. Why is this happening?

A couple new and better lit photos to see what I am asking about.




As you can see,some of the top bananas have already turned completely black and shrunken. What is causing that? I recall that I have only seen this mat successfully mature a banana bunch only once while I have seen it flower and carry small(that size or smaller) many times and I think they were having the same fate as those here...But it did mature a bunch once!
This seems like a really nice pseudostem,unlike the others I have seen flower but not mature bananas before so I was expecting this bunch to mature well...
