Orincco Bananas

I have fruited couple of these in the past few years.
I planted one in April,that had a 8ft trunk,and was in it's 3rd year being over wintered,and was hoping to get fruit this year.
It was nice and firm when I planted it in April along with all my other bananas.
We have had a lot of rain and cool weather to start this spring,but hasn't seemed to bother Raja Puri,Basjoo,Vel.Pink or Siam rubys.They are doing fine.
Then about middle of May,it still hasn't put out any leaves,and I noticed the top
starting to get soft,so I cut back to firm part,week later soft again,cut back again this time about half way down,still left 4 ft trunk,another week it was soft all the way down,well to pups appeared,and there now growing at warp speed,already 6ft to top of leaves,in less than a month.
Has anyone experienced a 8ft trunk going soft,after wintering a couple years?

At this early rate of speed,they'll see 7ft of trunk before fall comes!!!

Two years ago, I had a stem that was over 7 ft, but did not come out the next spring--it seemed firm at the end of winter and I refused to cut it back. The stem never came out and eventually got soft. The new pup that started took off and by the end of summer was over 8 ft tall and over 6 inches in diameter. I was really hoping for a nice bunch out of it this summer--but the last winter was brutal and the stem never came out.

I had this happen to me this spring. Every time i would cut the stems, it would just rot away after a day or 2. Luckily every stem that died produced 2 pups and now they're getting huge!

I don't know for sure, but my thinking now is that I will quit cutting stalks back very much--I think they may be able to transfer the nutrients to the pup and speed up growth. I cut back several this spring, trying to get them to come out, but most of them didn't. I think the pups would have grown faster if I had not cut the old stalks.

I would like to know from you both what other varieties ,this is happening with,it happened with my Ensete Maurelli,both of them came back fine.
