Go to Walmart. Buy one organic banana, one not organic and see if there is a difference to you. Big difference to me.

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

I assume you grow yours organically, are the differences present in all home grown banana's vs store bought ?

What are the best organic fertilizer's and soils ?

Last time I tested a South American organic cavendish compared to a local grown regular cavendish from the same grocery store. No contest. The organic one was like flavorless paste. Probably has more to do with stage of maturity when harvested or specific cultivar, as some cavendish to me are better than others.

Do you happen to know if the locally grown cav was organically grown ? Wondering if it makes a taste difference, I suspect it does make a health difference.

Well by regular I meant not organically grown. I would think many other things would affect taste more than organically grown or not.
