Thanks for the update . Your end of season photo's were some of the first I saw when I initially joined here and have been an inspiration..... probably too inspirational.
Are those white leaved Iris? Do they flower for you?

Hey Bob,
The irises are variegated , kind of pale green with a white stripe , they have already flowered around the beginning of June . It is a medium/dark purple flower ...

I am glad I could help with your tropicality . There are many on here (and other forums) , that I have gotten a ton of ideas from , so I am happy I was able to give something back .

Default water banana

Yes I bought the water banana in the summer of 2007. I wintered it over since then in my basement in water. It is Dwarf Cavendish. I am experimenting this year taking a small banana and putting it in water. Only starting with 1 inch of water the pot is setting in. And slowly raising the water level. That is how you do a canna to get it used to being in water. I am so excited it has 2 pups coming up.

I am confused - I thought dwarf cavendish was a land plant? Yours is a type that grows it's entire life in water?!!!

Thank you, Lorax.

Oh, I see, 'as water plants' - not that it actually is a waterplant. How interesting!

I will go find that thread now...

I read the thread, Lorax - it was so interesting and funny in parts, too! Thanks for the link. So much great information.

Your plant seems to be looking pretty healthy Vickie H - even though a lot of people were talking about rot, in that thread I just read. I love experiments though, and hope it turns out well for you. Thanks for your lovely pictures.

Tikifarmer, again, those shots are just stunning! I am blown away!

Being new to banana growing, I am so amazed when I see photos of them. I have never seen anything so beautiful in all of my life, as these gorgeous banana plants. Wow!

I sure hope I will have some beautiful plants someday too, like you guys do, to post here as well...

Randy4ut - all I can say is, OMG!!! Stunningly gorgeous!
