Only One hand produced and stops
Hey all, I'm posting this for a friend. She's the one that gave me the Truly tiny. She asked me today If I know why her bananas all produce just one hand and then stop? Does anyone know or has anyone else had this issue? Is this typical of Truly Tiny?
Thanks |
Re: Only One hand produced and stops
Ok... Just found out from her, it is a Cavendish that is only producing one hand and then stops. Not the Truly Tiny. So, what causes a plant to do that? Any ideas?

Re: Only One hand produced and stops
Cramping does that

Re: Only One hand produced and stops
Lack of fertilizer and / or water probably would as well... My neighbor has a Manzano he does not care for at all and it recently flowered with no fruit at all.
His bananas were riddled severely with sigatoka which, being upwind of mine, kept infecting mine so I gave them a good shot of systemic fungicide and a bag of manure with compost. Now both his and mine are doing better. |

Just too many people in one room. I have seen this with bananas. Isolated with a couple suckers produces more than a group. Good thing I have neighbors doing this so I can see.

My guess on the single hand issue is not enough fert (especially lack of potassium) |
Re: Only One hand produced and stops
My neighbor only by eleviating cramping went from 12 pound bunches to 50 pound bunches.
