OMG!!! Ooops! Sigh....
My husband got a little ambitious cleaning out the beds today while I was at the store. When I saw the hole where my banana WAS, he said he dug it up and THREW IT AWAY! We were able to retrieve it from the trash before the trash man came today. The stalk with base and 3-4 inch roots is about 2-3 feet tall. Do I replant it here at wintertime or bring it in the garage for the winter? I think it's a dwarf orinoco... I'm not positive as I can't remember what I bought or where I purchased it, from e-bay, here...????

I'd say store it or pot it and store it.

Re: OMG!!! Ooops! Sigh....
You probably do not want to stick it back into the ground, as it will probably be getting too much water while in the "mostly-dormant" stage.
If it were mine, I'd pot it & let it sit someplace cool/cold that will be freeze/frost protected. Avoid watering, if the ground is slightly damp, that'll be enough to tide it over. A dusting of the roots with a combination rooting hormone - fungicide would be cheap insurance. |
