Question Odd

I got home from work the other night, went into the greenhouse and came across something very odd. I bought a Red rib Maurellii on EBay a few months back that is about a foot tall and 1/4 inch in diameter. It really hasn't done much since I got it but has perked up in the last week. As I looked closer I noticed what looked like a green fruit loop at the base of the plant. For some reason the new leaf had busted throught the side of the plant about 1/2 inch from the soil. It's kinda hard to describe and I know that a pic would help but my 2 year old boy destroyed the camera. It was half in and half out making almost a perfect circle. This is a first for me and I'm not sure what to do with it. Maybe someone can give some advice or tell me why it did this. For now I'll just let it grow and see what happens.-Nate

I've had my Musella lasiocarpa's to this in the past. Not sure why either.
