![]() Hi
I m going to Florida in May. I would like to buy some bananas either to keep potted or in ground depending. So looking for places with a decent selection. I have 6 species in ground, established for 15 years: Basjoo, Sikkimensis, Ornata, 2 varieties of Itinerans, Lasiocarpa. Be aware that Welcome to Going Bananas of Homestead, Florida! in Homestead only does mail order now. Thxs Pat |

![]() Actually Going Bananas has stopped doing mail order and they just sell in-person out of their nursery by appointment only. If you send them an email, you can arrange an appointment. As a matter of fact, I made an appointment by email and picked up a 3 gallon blue java at the nursery at the beginning of March. They have an excellent selection and I think that they are a reputable supplier.

First if you like to thrift shop check out the thrifts along the treasure coast. Jupiter /West Palm has some good ones. The Florida big box stores have the most common ornamental and fruiting banana plants for sale. Independent nurseries will have a small selection of bananas also and an incredible selection of tropicals and landscape plants. My favorites for tropicals Weatherbee nursery in FT Pierce and Pinders nursery in Palm City. https://pindersnursery.com Craigslist / Florida/Miami currently has plants for sale and this is where you will find some gems if they're offered . The further south you go the more exotic the selection will be. |
