When this spurious activity overloads the server, your hosting company is going to take this site down (500) to stop the attack. Been there.

1. Block the IP (at least temporarily) and implement solutions ASAP.

You're talking to the wrong people. Only moderators are watching the shop right now and we have none of those powers, as previously discussed. There are different IP addresses being used but when I ban someone I check to see if there are other registered users with the same IP address and delete those. Both accounts that were spamming this evening were from different IP addresses.

I am not a computer geek, but it probably still comes from the same computer. There are static IP addresses (most likely all of us "normal" people use this) and there are dynamic IP addresses which can be changed constantly through certain programs for the purpose of spamming or other nuisances.
Sooner than later we need something like the proposed Captcha or similar things in place.
Big "Thanks" again to all the moderators and hopefully the founder and administrator of this great forum still shows a little interest in it.

I have little doubt that it's coming from the same computer. My response was in regards to Celine's suggestion of blocking the IP address. That would not work in this case.

In addition, that's not something that I or other moderators can do nor the implementation of a captcha registration process. These things have already been discussed and continuing to bring them up is of no benefit to this thread. The people reading the thread already understand what would help.

The moderators are acting on problems and just putting out fires before they get big again because that's the best we can do.

Folks, please read prior comments. The moderators have no ability to perform administrative tasks such as changing the registration process. A captcha has been recommended numerous times, there is no benefit to doing so again. Jarred, our forum admin, did say he would get to work on this but all of us have other responsibilities in life also.

They are doing what they can within their power to handle this. Besides not being paid for their work and having their own lives, I don't believe they have the tools to alter the membership process; they can only ban and delete. I certainly appreciate their efforts.
