Jack you would be surprised. I started the collection while living in zone 4-5 in Northern Illinois. So there are some perennials in the lot plus many hardwood trees that are popular.

I also have 2 seedlings of Maclayi from seeds. They are still pretty small, averaging about 5-6 inches, but they are hard to find here. The only way to ship these is overnight or second day express at the most.
Bids start at $10 each. This will be a short auction and ends tomorrow night at 5 pm Pacific time. Please keep the shipping cost in mind, as these are fragile little buggers. (On the bright side, they are light in weight)

Yes I had it bad. OCD is what I call it. Ha ha Anyway, initially I will be in Zhuhai for the first month. Then hopefully in Changsha. This could change depending upon assignment and need. It really is my wish to be land in Changsha but anywhere is fine for the first six months. Then I can pretty much dictate where I want to go.

Scott,

I'm interested in the maclayi, but I have no idea how any of this works. Did I miss something on the "for sale and auction" page?

Hi Russell, nope you are doing it just fine. Watch this page for anyone bidding higher. At 8 pm the winner gets the plant or plants that they bid. I will then ask for shipping info and you pay via Paypal. Simple.

Scot, OCD stopped at half of that list. That is called seed insanity. If half those seed germinate we could beautify america, and probably the world. Were you preparing for a seed shortage, LOL.

Well, the bidding is finally over. The winner of the seeds is Harvey (rightfully so, due to his hard work keeping track of everything for me) and Russel Coker wins the Maclayi, if he wants them. He just expressed an interest, not a bid commitment, but since he was the only one, they are his for the asking.

I still need to hear back from some of you for your shipping address and shipping preference. I am sending out some tomorrow and want to have it completed by Tuesday, please. Once you give me this info, I can have your package weighed, confirm the total with shipping and get these out to you. As soon as you get your invoice, please send the Paypal payment the same day if at all possible. I have quite a few things on my plate now, and will not have much time to deal with much else.

Thanks again to everyone on Bananas.org I never expected such a wonderful response. As I have said before, I am deeply humbled by your generosity and the outpouring of kindness. I have received over 200 emails from all of you and will reply to every one of them when I get settled.

I also want to say that I have tried to use every possible means of keeping your bananas and other plants alive during shipping. They were packed with care and I pray that all of them grow like crazy for you. If I mixed something up, please accept my sincere apologies. Trying to unpot, clean, pack and label all of these in 105-114 degree heat has been a bigger challenge than I imagined. So far, they all have fantastic root development and I have tried to save as much of the root system as possible. Quite a few were larger than the box, so they had to be trimmed. Most of the leaves will be removed to slow transpiration during shipping in this heat. They WILL bounce back once you get them into the ground. New leaves will pop and away they go! In some of the much larger pstems, a cut was made just under the first petioles, so I did not hack off a big chunk of the pstem, it just looks like I did. (It nearly brought me to tears having to do it) All pups that were seperated have good roots and look good.

Please remember to send your shipping address and shipping preference ASAP! I can't ship them without it. I also cannot keep them fresh once they are de-potted.

With many thanks,

Scot

Hi Scot.

I'm excited about the maclayi and hope I will do you proud.

I'm only sorry that I didn't join sooner to take advantage of your other offerings. I wish you well and can't wait to see what you find next!

Here in Houston we have a drought watch where I can only water within certain times which are usually the time Im at work. or on certain days.

Its a pain but Im trying to work around it. The nanners are doing good I make sure I give lots of water first.
