'NoNo' Banana?
 

Has anyone had any experience with the ‘NoNo’ Banana? I just came across it yesterday on the internet and thought it looked really cool. I’d like to hear more about it if anyone knows anything

I ended up getting a couple of these to see what they are like. There’s not really much information on them that I could find.

I don't know but its probably just me.. If the banana doesn't have straight green leaves its most likely prone to get burnt the hell up in full to partial sun. My take on it is I'd feed it to my pigs or goats.. unless it was an AEAE then it would be in full shade like Steve's that he eats from almost every year.. Anyway Ive seen the Florida next to an AEAE and its just a cheap knock if you ask me. Its not bout the plant it should be can you fruit it and does the fruit taste better than a cavendish.. Ordering another veinte cohol in the spring from goingbanana's while that thought is in my head.. bet I can fruit in in 2nd summer down here.. Go all you banana heads.. :^)

For those of us in the north, where fruiting a banana is a huge chore requiring no small amount of luck, or serious $$ inputs, ornament is what it is about.....so as much as I would really like it to be all about the fruit.....looks are all I've got ;)

Landscape bananas are awesome. It's why I started growing them. I mean how many bananas can you eat anyway?

I'm curious if anyone has any new or current updates on their pink nono banana plants. There's literally just the limited research info out there, but it doesnt really go into detail on size of adult plants, fruit quality (I have seen 2 different info on fruit, edible and one saying no fruit on this one). There's now a photo circulating of the fruit, but I'm not sure it's legit.
Does anyone have any personal info they can share? I have two pups, just curious what to expect eventually.

I have heard about the 'NoNo' Banana. It has huge green leaves with white or pink variegation.

Yes. I have 2. One with very little variegation. The larger it gets the less variegation it produces. The other has a fair amount of variegation. They are still pups, only about a foot or so high. The leaves protrude white and green then as they mature, harden and get sun exposure they darken and the white turns pink. I was just wondering, now that some people have had them for a couple years now if anyone has gotten fruit from them yet?

I just deflasked 3 TC Nonos yesterday. I'm also curious to know how big they get and what the fruit is like. There doesn't seem to be much info out there on them.

I hope these post. These are the two I have. The close up shots are of the one with very little white. In fact, those photos are old. It has absolutely no white anymore. All new foliage has been solid green
The other is the one that's nicely variegated.
I have had them for about 6 months now. They were tc but already acclimated when I got them. I have not had luck with the bagged cultures.

From what I have gathered, they only get 6-8 ft. The fruit is still questionable. Some state it's *edible, but not preferred* while others market it as sweet, so I have been waiting for some growers to post more info, but no one has posted as of yet.

Ok, thanks for the info! You are farther ahead than I am so you'll probably get fruit first, but I'll try to update when or if I am successful.

I have a Musa Nono. Even in full light, my Musa Aeae has grown circles around it. They seem to grow extremely slow.

Both of mine produce leaves at the same time as my florida variegated, but, keep in mind the aeae, and fla variegated are a much larger plant than the nono which is only a 6-8 ft plant.

Beautiful. I tried a couple tc bananas in a bag before and they never grew at all. I dont think id try to acclimate a tc again.
