Newbie Questions

Hi everyone, I am a newbie to banana plants but am eager to get started. I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some tips on which banana plants to start out with? I live in central Ca 9-10, I am looking for a smaller banana plant that grows 6-8 ft and has edible bananas that I can grow in a pot. Thanks for any replys

Hey and Welcome!!!!
I like growing Goldfinger.. It is a very hardy plant has high wind resistance and some cold tolerance, grows to about 12 ft. Mine hasn't produced bananas yet but I should have some this coming summer...

A few of us are trying out the Dwarf Lady Finger, why not give it a shot. It's claimed to easily fruit while growing in a pot.

Re: Newbie Questions

Your easiest option is a standard 'Dwarf Cavendish', they are one of the most common banana plants you can buy and stay small and will fruit in a container very easily.
