New Corms 2
My good friend, forum member Mark Dragt (Mark's Bananas Forest Paradise Greenhouse) ordered 2 new corms; an Ice Scream Blue Java corm and a Pisang Raja corm and gave me as a gift for babysitting his corms until the weather (temp) gets better in Rochester, WA, probably by spring time, a FHIA-17 corm. Thank you Mark for the FHIA-17 corm!....You will get a FHIA-17 pup for sure!....
The corms came courtesy of the very experienced forum member Nick Naranjas!...As you can see by the pictures, Nick sent us 3 beautiful, big, huge corms with roots!...Thank you Nick for your kindness!... All pictures taken on January 28, 2017.... The 3 beautiful, big, huge corms!.... *****I used a mix of organic soil, peat moss and perlite for the potting mix!...Corms are in big pots!.....***** Pisang Raja big corm..... Ice Scream Blue Java big corm.... *****Adding water to take out the "air pockets" within the mixed potting soil!....***** This is how the corms looks right now!....Babysitting time!.... Then to the task, The FHIA-17 was trans-planted to the ground, using coarse sand, peat moss and perlite and a thin layer of organic soil on top!..... Just added mulch to finish! more updates coming!....

*****Update*****
After 2 days only for being trans-planted, the corms are showing signs of growing, pushing out!..... Pictures taken on January 30, 2017.... Ice Scream Blue Java corm.... FHIA-17 corm.... As you can see in the last 2 pictures, I also started to add "Bio-Recycle" (one of my favorite words), food for my 'nanas and my little precious, best friends; The millipedes!.....So valuable millicompost!...... *****updates will keep coming!*****

The corms are adjusting very quickly!....They keep growing, pushing out fast!....I added some grass clippings to the corms!..... Pictures taken on February 04, 2017..... Pisang Raja corm.... Ice Scream Blue Java corm...... FHIA-17 corm... More updates coming!.....

I got a FHIA 17 from Nick last October and it has been the fastest growing banana ever... Double the leaves of the others. The book says 18 months on 17, so maybe they slow down...
I recommend getting a Paggi from him while there still are some... Great tasting banana.

The corms are still pushing out!....They are growing nicely!..... Pictures taken on February 18, 2017..... Pisang Raja = Musa Belle corm.....looks like the first leaf it is coming out anytime now!... Ice Scream Blue Java corm....keeps pushing out real nice!..... FHIA-17 corm......another "monster grower!".....keeps growing fast, pushing out the second leaf!.... More updates coming soon!....

The corms are still growing very nice!....This time, I took 2 sets of pictures on the same day; one set of pictures at 01:00 P:M (Eastern time) and another set of pictures at 06:00 P:M (Eastern time) to see if there is any difference in the corms growth!....See it yourself!....  All pictures taken on February 21, 2017..... Pisang Raja = Musa Belle corm!.... At 01:00 P:M.... At 06:00 P:M.... Ice Scream Blue Java corm!.... At 01:00 P:M... At 06:00 P:M... FHIA-17 "monster grower" corm!...... At 01:00 P:M..... At 06:00 P:M..... *****A Bonus!***** My FHIA-1 TARS "real deal" Goldfinger!....It is growing really fast now!....Had put out 4 new leaves on the last 2 weeks!....2 new leaves per week!....Comparing to other 'nanas varieties that I had grew or currently growing, at the same growing stage (height, dimensions, etc.), The FHIA-1 TARS "real deal" Goldfinger it is going to be a very stout plant with a thick pseudostem!......
