New Bananas not growing
I bought 2 plantain pups and planted them in the ground. They were about 3 feet time when they were separated from the main plant.
They were mostly crome and only had a few leaves at the time. I planted them a month ago and have cared well for them. They have new growth coming out but they don't gain height...so the leaves unfurl as new growth is emerging. It all looks like a ragged mess. I cut them back to 1 foot tall so the new leaves could unfurl and hopefully gain height but I am still having the same problem. I am wondering if this is because they don't have enough roots yet? Has anyone else had this experience before? I have never had this happen to me so I am at a loss. |
Re: New Bananas not growing
You need to give the plant more time to get itself established, there's a lot going on underground that you can't see, just leave it be for a while. A picture would help.
Other members will have more advice I'm sure. |

It SHOULD sort itself out. Normal to do that when recovering from transplant shock.

It take a while sometimes before a plant decides to sort itself out. I have a plant which has refused to grow a leaf while it's variegated sisters are 15 feet tall. The 18 gal container is full of healthy roots but will not push leaves......Hmmmm |

Be patient. They will sort it out.
