![]() Hi I recently got some large Abyssinian bananas from my father in law. He is great at growing them in pots but I however struggle. Even when I try to do exactly as he does mine have issues. They are in tall pots and I water them every second day with miracle grow. His end up 8 feet tall by doing this. Many of the bottom leaves turned yellow in the first month and now the new bigger leaves are turning black around the edges and then now starting to turn yellow just in from the black. I have tried to included pictures but can’t figure it out. Anybody able to give some ideas? I can email pictures if that helps.
Thanks |

![]() Too much water. Small pups do not need as much water as bigger plants. .... Also make sure the pot drains water out. the pot soil needs to drain water about 15 to 30 seconds after pouring in the top. Bananas need FRESH water and do not tolerate stale or stagnate water in the bottom of the pot.

![]() Please upload a picture of the over-all plant & pot.

Get and use a long stem moisture meter. Water when the middle and bottom of the potting soil is dry. ... The pea gravel only made the pot & soil work like it was in a shorter pot. Water is trapped in the soil. |

![]() It seems you are over-watering! Yellowing of leaves is common indication. The roots are rotting. Let them dry out slightly before re-watering...it encourages the roots to develop further ro seek water.
