Namwah and Blue Java

I know pictures comparing the two have flooded this site but here's what I have going on in my back yard. They are more distinctly different than I thought they would be. Looks like 100 fingers on the Blue.

Not Blue Java / Ice Cream. Would definitely have a blue-grey color. Judging bythe small number of hands, might be an Orinoco

Never say never but I'm fairly certain that's a blue Java. Understand it was a pup this time last year. One never knows but I'd place a fairly good wager if for no other reason the integrity of the grower.

Looks like you got about seven hands on your Blue Java. That's pretty good for a first year plant lacking the power of an established corm or a mother plant for nutrients. I get 10-12 hands per plant with 14-16 fingers per hand. The fingers gradually turn a blue over about six weeks. I had an early season single handed bunch that turned from an initial green to blue to eventually almost white before turning yellow.

Thanks it really has thrived in that spot. It's a monster.

How's your BJ doing? It should be showing some color. The bunch below flowered in my patch about a week after yours based on your posting date above.

I lost just about all height, saved maybe a foot on a few but now it's a strong patch of 10 or so with several at about 6' of pstem. Looking great but not expecting fruit this year.

Yea mine is about 6' had to start from the ground but have a few small pups, hopefully I can keep the pups down and get something off the main stem before winter.
