Default Mysore not growing.

I have a mysore pup 2 feet tall sitting in the corner of the kitchen that is refusing to grow. It hasn't grown in over 3 or 4 months. All 2 leaves and stem are green. I water it when it gets dry but just no growth. It is facing south, gets great light and only feet away from my other banana plants which are growing fine. Any ideas why it might be acting up?

I've heard that sometimes all it takes to stimulate a plant into growth is to move it a few feet in one direction or another. The idea is that you change the conditions (especially the light) that it is used to, and the change causes it some stress which is, in many cases, all you need to stimulate activity in a dormant or semi-dormant plant.

(at least it works for orchids)

Two things that come to mind are insufficient heat(temperature) for growth and root or corm rot. With other bananas nearby growing fine, its not very likely to be insufficient growing temperatures although i have read that Mysore is more heat demanding than other varieties. A problem with the root system might be more likely such as root or corm rot or even a still establishing root system if its a new pup and hasnt ever grown for you since you got it.
Does it maybe stay constantly wet at a certain part of the root ball due to bad soil? If it had any rot when you got it,that could be inhibiting its growth as the temperatures you keep it may not be enough for good growth and so not good enough for it to deal with its problems easily as it would do in good growing conditions. Also rot may have set in due to constant moisture and low temperatures without too good soil aeration/porosity.
It could also be due to being too dry such as if the soil has dried too much compacted that its not moistened properly during waterings. That would keep the plant looking good and living off its reserves from the occasional waterings but stunt its growth.
The plant may also be choking.

The above are just some ideas on what could have caused that. You should be able to figure it out by examining your plant and soil for signs of the above and maybe see something you may have missed so far I know i found my bananas had compacted dry soil on half their rootball when i got them out of my basement, something i hadnt noticed previously.

I wish your Mysore starts growing again soon!!!

Thankyou Kostas& Yug , It is, i'm sure one of those reasons, It's in a potting mix which I have just recently noticed when I water it -the water comes through the bottom but the mid section of soil doesn't absorb the water so I stuck my finger halfway and found out it was bone dry. which would explain the drooping leaves. I also moved it over several feet so it can get more afternoon sun.gave it a good soaking yesterday and now has lots of sun.I will just have to wait it out and see what happens.

here's a pic of it.

If you say the inner soil was bone dry, then that should be the reason. Has water thoroughly wetted all soil now? It's pretty hard and a slow proccess to rehydrate such a soil again by just watering it from above. I would suggest a soak of the whole pot in a bucket of water with a water level preferably up to where the soil level is. That will work great in rehydrating the now hygrophobic soil within half an hour to a few hours.
Your banana should then start growing in a week or 2,depending on the root damage it has from the drought.
