Propagation proficiency really helps because not every nub is going to turn out to be beautiful.

Re: My New Favorite Banana Plant

About a dozen years ago I found a plant with the same desirable characteristic that this plant displays but after years of study I was disappointed with it's overall performance and decided against distributing it. So it's safe to say at this point of it's development I'm cautiously optimistic.

I started focusing on this plant sometime after Oct 5 and was happy that I had taken the earlier photos. I'll add all future pertinent photos for those that are interested. I'll also re-post any remaining photos from the first study but most were overwritten due to the limited photo space here so if you read the old posts the corresponding photos will now be out of place.

Even though variegation was not the desirable characteristic, all these photos are of the same plant in chronological order to show how it's color changed over time.

Second photo was taken on January 29 but I don't recall the year and the white leaf in the photo is the leaf that I later wrote Jan 29 on.

Third photo was taken a couple weeks later.

Forth photo shows the same dated leaf with the following leaf and there's also a developing offshoot in the background.

Fifth photo shows the flag leaf unfurling.

Sixth photo shows - D. it's peduncle - A. one of it's mottled mature leaves - B. a normal Namwa leaf - C. one of it's offshoots

Another stacked leaf. Exactly what would be expected if this is to be a true Super Dwarf Pisang Awak. A green version of this plant could easily become the most desirable banana for indoor growers and tissue culturing it should be simple.
