My first winter with banana plants
Here is St. Louis we had the lowest temperatures in more than a decade.
Now we must face spring which is likely to be more damaging. On Monday there was two inches of snow on my lawn. Today, Thursday the thermometer recorded an all time high for this date. 83 F. My Basjoo is under a mulch of more than a foot of chopped leaves. I do not dare remove them. The plant might begin to grow and we must plan on killing frost till the 15th of next month. It may or may not happen. The unidetefied pup in the basement died. George |

sorry to hear of your losing inside winter stored plants
weather temps and conditions are all over arent they.. geesh here in utah we seem to go from winter right to summer.. i wish we had more of a spring..but i guess we take what were given.. i potted up all except my biggest overwintered nanners..they are doing good.. sending out new leaves..so i guess im lucky.. hope your outside kept basjoo is ok!! |
