Default My first Orinoco bloom

I just noticed this today as I was taking one last look at my bananas befroe Hurricane Hanah arrives. To bad it's so late in the season I would have loved to try some of these.

Good luck, Chris. You're plant might make it through OK. As long as you and your family do is the main thing.

Good Job Topher.

While you may not be able to eat them since it is so late, you will still enjoy watching them emerge, counting the fruits, and seeing the variety of flying insects that like the male flowers.

Thank you to everyone the plants all made it through the 10+ inches of rain. I did have my last casta bean fall over though . Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed about Ike.

Thanks for your answer Chris.
But it still is not clear whether you dug them up and just left them under your
house or you potted them and left under the house.
Please tell me more about this as I want to try your methods for the coming winter.

Last year thw main plant was 8' tall with the pup being 3' so potting them up was not an option considering we are talking about a crawl space. I dug them about 1 week before the first frost let them dry for 3 days and dragged them under. This year one of my pups is 9' with another being 6', that one I will dig and out under my house.
