This is perfect for the leafy growth stage. When fruiting, you want a full spectrum, but you have some time for this. You can just put it out in the summer and let it do its thing. Is the garage it is in heated, or is the heating pad the only source of heat?

Luisport,

Which of the pawpaws and magos do you recommend? I have being wanting to plant a couple and a mango but I have not had the chance to look for them. I got some guava plants but always looking to add to the collection.

Luisport,

I will have to order them so I will have to order from the web. I will have to keep in mind that I live in zone 9a

Re: My first Banana plant!!!

If you live on 9a it's better than mine, you shouldn't have problems. Regarding Pawpaw you can choose one auto-fertile like sunflower and another very good like halvin, Wabash, Susquehanna, Shenandoah, mango, etc... there are a lot of very good ones.
Regarding mangos you have some more dwarf and others that grow more like valencia pride, and here we have palmer that is dwarf. But there are very good ones.

Thank you for the recommendations. I will look for them sometime this yr, I hope. I will check to see the characteristics of them and hopefully choose the best one for my family's taste.

Your plants look great, loved looking at them. I hope to add some trees/plants this yr to our growing orchard.

We got cold weather and frost every day for more than 2 weeks. My banana trees have all leaves dead... just hope the trunk is not dead and continue to grow in some weeks with warmer weather. All my tropicals and citrus suffered.

I really don't know. This is a great variety for cold hardy places. I got a very cold winter, i even lost some citrus trees... but she only loose the leaves! Another great thing is that she grows very fast! I have other cold hardy varieties that resisted well to cold like orinoco and rajapuri, but grow much more slower. She is very good looking!

Luisport

Is that mango tree small or are my eyes deceiving me, never realised you could fruit them while the tree is small.

luisport 08-26-2021 01:57 PM

Re: My first Banana plant!!!

Regarding my new musa varieties, they are from a french nursey where i got my Da Jiao. They are a great reliable source. I will post what they have there:

Musa 'himalayan mountain'®:

This variety of banana was discovered in Himachal Pradesh at altitude (1750 m) in the middle of the Himalayas (North India). It produces edible bananas with a mild flavor. We are proud to offer it to you and to produce it in our nursery. The himalayan mountain® musa is larger than its cousin himalayan fruit®. It is similar in its thick, pruinose foliage under the foliage and on the trunk.
[Musa 'himalayan mountain'® (bananier fruitier)* - Pépinière Ecologique La Maison du Bananier](https://www.lamaisondubananier.com/b...-fruitier.html)

Musa x fruit®:

New variety developed by our nursery, musa x fruit is a very promising variety for its hardiness and rapid fruiting, proven with the last winters. It is quite close to dajiao and Himalayan fruit®, the foliage is more erect and slightly embossed, green under the lower and upper side. Its average height is 2.5 meters. Like many fruit varieties, the pseudostem is pruinose.

The fruit is tasty.🥭
Pawpaw is native woodland tree in Ohio,USA.:)
It is also Ohio's designated native fruit.
While I do not grow them in the yard I always know where a tree or two are.

The fruit is amazing when you can find a tree in the woods....I always try to pick a few.
