So I just finished eating some namwas. Almost black. Verdict:

Not mushy, sweet as as......... Ah....... Hell

One of the best bananas I have ever had. Definitely a keeper. Hardiness, vigor, taste. So far this one takes the cake.

Mine taste great too. Don’t understand why some people don’t like them other than maybe local growing conditions are not optimal or something. Nothing unpleasant at all. Sweet, good density, decent size, and the plant is just about bullet proof. I’m talking specifically about Tall Namwa. I’ve never tried a Dwarf Namwa.

I think that certain strains taste better than others. My neighbors (two houses away) have an icecream banana they got from Home Depot (Tall Namwa) they do not fertilize at all, but shouldn’t affect the taste. They are not that good with a hint of plantain taste. Taste horrible. Lol

Fertilizing and watering affect the taste during fruit development 100% IMHO. At least it does on citrus trees, so I would think any fruiting plant would need proper water and nutrition to develop sugars.

Bananas growing wild in a field I tried are really good (manzano variety I think) nobody fertilizes them. What does everybody think?

Those are some nice, fat namwa fingers. Congratulations! Better harvest soon before the squirrels get to them.

Just saw a blue tailed skink! I just saw the tail disappearing in to the mulch! I hope the skink eats some brown anoles! I have been keeping as a pet female red headed skink for some months (cought at a buddies house) And eventually plant to release it in my backyard. I just hope there is a male red head somewhere.
