My "apple banana" from florida hill nursery

Re: My "apple banana" from florida hill nursery
When you say "Apple" do you mean Manzano or Brazilian? Both are commonly referred to as "Apple" and leads to confusion.
I don't know what you have there in your photo. Good luck in getting an ID. |
Re: My "apple banana" from florida hill nursery
Its supposed to be a Manzano. The one from the local grower is about the same size and the leaves are all green.

zebrino perhaps?

I was thinking that or they have one that they say is a cross between a Gran Nain and a Zebrina.

Re: My "apple banana" from florida hill nursery
looks like all the zebrinos Ive ever had to be honest. The shorter the plant is the less red the leaves usually get. The plant is short and has sparse red on it which is typical of a zebrino that I have grown.

I have a Zebrina pup where the leaves are still solid green, cept for a few faint reddish streaks. But even those are definitly reddish. They actually look pinkish in bright light. It's the color of the marks(at least how they look in the photo to me) that's got me thinking it's not Zebrina or X Cross. Or do Zebrina pups sometimes display more brownish/black depending on the mom as opposed to red? :2738: |
Re: My "apple banana" from florida hill nursery
I've seen plants marked Manzano's at the big box stores that had the blood spots and the TC I purchased as "manzano" also has the blood spots when it was young but they faded away as the plant got bigger. I also note a nice red color to the Pstem on mine. Only at fruiting will I know for sure, but it seems to be correct so far.

Mine looks just like that. My understanding is that it will lose the red splotches when it matures. |
