My understanding is that the seed is ready when the "fruit" bursts open.

Yes, when the banana starts to split, then the seeds are fully ripe.

Congrats, Austin! Great to see somebody nearby with such a great looking Velutina (since it's one at the top of my list to get)! If it was me, I'd eat the fruit :).
From what I've read, and I read a lot on it, Velutina's ripe when the skin pops. Also, despite being a bit challenging, the fruit is edible. |

Wow awesome they all have banana's!! Mine have turned lighter and not pink as much anymore? We have been getting tons of rain for the last week here in Eastern NC. How long are these suppose to be on a first year plant? I know they crack when they are over ready to eat. But they are still kinda small and really hard. Thanks!
