Got 100 seeds today now just need to figure out the best way to germinate them, any ideas

what if they are out side or in a green house, due you put them in peat pots or just sow them in the potting soil in the tray

I've been trying that with EV & Chinese to no avail for 2 months.. lol :^)

I put 75 Musa Velutina in a mini greenhouse and the little peet pots and it took 6 months and i just got my first sprout a few weeks ago. I would try a mini green house outside in your greenhouse it would keep them warm and i bet they would sprout faster.

I would sow them in a tightly covered tray(forming a mini greenhouse) placed somewhere receiving full sun for 2-4hours each day or in a humid greenhouse/hothouse that gets some hours of full sun and gets really hot. I try to germinate mine in my hothouse which can reach 60C in extreemly hot days and i got many(maybe even all...) Typhonium venosum to sprout in there plus a banana like baby which can either be Musa velutina,Heliconia rostrata or a ginger...:woohoonaner: I am not very experienced germinating such plants though,my field are palm and cycad seeds which i sprout indoors! No luck with Musa velutina indoors for me though,even with bottom heat each day for 12hours to 30C and each night from a little lower to much lower...

60C holy man Kostas.. I know mine was hot that it almost burned my hand when I went to check out the seeds, but I don't think it was that warm :^)

I had great success sprouting M. velutina seeds directly in the ground inside my greenhouse. It did take at least 6 months, however.

I had mine on top of a fish tank. The fish tank light provided them bottom heat for about 15 hours a day.

Three are blooming right now, out of a somewhat small clump. They completely died back this January. They came back the fastest from the severe freezing that included 11 nights (mornings) below 32F. They are approx. four to five feet tall.

Is that unusual for this type of banana?
