Musa Truly Tiny

Last post for today,I promise :)

I finally found a Truly Tiny that I had been looking for to give as a gift to my mother.
The Pseudostem is about 12 inches right now and it has 6 leaves(7th leaf coming shortly) and it has a Pup that is about 1/2 to 1 inch tall with 1 leaf.
The plant will be going into a 3 gallon pot for its permanent home probably by Mothers Day.

When should the Pup be separated? Should it be done when the mother is planted into its new pot or should it wait until its bigger?
I'm also guessing the procedure is the same as for all other bananas?

Any other tips, tricks and advice you can give us on growing a Truly Tiny would be most Appreciated as there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on them.

Thank You
Les

Hi Bananers, for a 12inch p-stem, the Truly Tiny is a big guy so you can safely separate the pup and repot it separately. Remember that this plant grows to only about 2ft in p-stem height so it's half way there already.

I have a couple of these Truly Tiny in the ground and they seem to be the very accommodating lil fellas. No complains about anything and pups quite well. I guess there's nothing much more to say about this cultivar except to enjoy them! :ha:

Thanks for the reply's.

We repotted it into a new pot yesterday(a 3 gallon,Hope its big enough?)and the pup seemed to small to comfortably separate it so I think we will wait until its a bit bigger.

Thanks again
