Default Musa 'Kandrian' now fruiting

Our Musa 'Kandrian' is now fruiting. This is a big plant, like 'Saba', and about 20ft. tall. In the 3rd photo I placed a US dollar bill at the base of the main stem for size comparision.

Is the correct name 'Kandrian' or 'Kandarian' ? I see it both ways.

How long did it take to fruit from pup to fruiting may I ask? Someone said that 8 months. Now I am beginning to doubt it if it takes 20 some odd feet to fruit.

It was planted in April 2002, this is the first stalk to flower. The original stalk was snapped during Hurricane Charley in Aug. 2004.

Congratulations on bringing that awesome banana plant to maturity!

In the literature I have read at Biodiversity International and also at Tamil Nadu Agriculturual University I most often see Kandrian.

Never realized that they grew so large! Great job! I will someday have room for something like that, I just hope that it's sooner than later. Can you picture a mat of Kandrian, Saba and Ingens towering over your backyard? Yikes!!!!
