Default Musa Itinerans "Burmese Blue" seedlings

Ive always had horrible luck trying to germinate banana seeds. ITs mostly my fault, as I dont really do anything other then throw em in a baggie with some soil, and put them on the window sill and hope for the best...

After years of failure, youd think I would learn, but evidently, I didnt. The last batch I did the same thing.

The only ones to germinate were the Itinerans. Not just one, but two outta 5 seeds planted so far.

This is from June 14th, sry for the quality

This is from yesterday, you can see the second one just starting to break the soil, in the yellow pot..

They grow really fast......

Thanks for lookin

Brrrrr.... never thought of growing bananas in Cananda. After seeing where they are grown around the world it is mind boggling. Good luck.

I think its time I update this.

ITs been about 8 weeks since they sprouted, and to spare you the long story, they were exposed to light frost one night, and the next, one was fine (no frost), the other one was covered in frost.

They both made it, and didnt even go dormant. Already on leaf #2, a week indoors in a sunny window. Not much growth, but the leaves are getting noticeably larger.

Ill post pics tomorrow, just thought Id write that down so I dont forget it. Plus its interesting..

Heres the pics!!! The bottle is 500ml.

The first one is the one that was covered in frost. ITs growing really fast now, in full sun.

This is the one that was relatively untouched..

They are both recovering well from 3 days at freezing temps at night (light frost).
