Hi folks! Here is some fruits of the Musa Basjoo I harvested in my garden.

So they do have seed, I wonder why there are not more on the net for sale?

We are glad you posted that photo, many of us including myself did not know how big the bananas and seeds were.

It's my pleasure, cincinnnana. I have a Basjoo grove here in Japan and I have been growing them for the past 10 years. I have more than 10 mats of Basjoo with many large plants, it's almost like a plantation. The Basjoo blooms all year round but mostly in the autumn, so the fruits do not have enough time to develop before the winter comes, so the fruits are still small in the winter and they dry up with the cold and we don't get full developed fruits with seeds. This year I got 2 bunches which bloomed in the spring and it started to ripe in the beginning of December. The fruits are well developed and so are the seeds. This is not common in Japan. Most of the bunches I have now in my grove are premature, and they will dry up in the winter without having a chance to mature. In the past I collected seeds from other regions of Japan but they did not germinate. As they were already dry, and probably premature they did not germinate. This year, for the first time, I have good fresh Basjoo seeds to plant. By the way, all of my Basjoo mats are clones. I have never seen a Basjoo seedling yet. I will let you know about the results next year.

Congratulations on the two bunches of bananas and the seeds .
I hope they germinate for you and you get to see the seedlings grow. The area in which I live the plants get large but rarely get fruit.
