![]() I planted the Black Thai about 2 months ago as a 3 foot tall plant, and now it's about 10 feet tall to leaf tip. It's definatly my fastest grower(besides maybe aurantica), but I'm wondering if it's ever gonna slow down.
Does anybody know how tall it's supposed to get? ![]() |

![]() Wish I knew the answer. I got mine about 3 weeks ago and wondered how well they take full sun? I am in Las Vegas, so I have been babying it gradually increasing sun exposure. Are you saying 10' to the petiole base. or to the leaf tips?

![]() 10 feet tall to leaf tip. Mine is getting almost all day sun and doing great(lots of black), although it is alot more humid here than in Las Vegas.
Although in California in the summer, my balbisianas in pots did just fine in full sun in the 110F heat, and the soil even dried out a bit. My others(Cheesmanii, ornata, sikki red flash, ect) wilted and got fried during the same hot spell until I pulled them into more shade. I'll bet it will be a great plant for Vegas summers. |

![]() Here's a picture taken at the same time as the original post. The two pups are now huge, and the leaves still have a slightly upright look to them.

![]() Kyle, I just called my friend in Bkk and she sells this plant. She had it for years in her nursery. According to her in Bkk, the M balbisiana Thai Black has a p-stem height of 2.5 to 3m. So with a similar clime in Mexico, you should get the same.
Cheers! ![]() |

![]() Blood 'ell Kyle,so all that growths from a little tc starter.Makes it an even more impressive plant for me now mate.I thought it might've been a thai import like mine, which was about 3foot high when it arrived(still only 3 foot high now too, lol)
I'l be a happy man indeed if mine looks anywhere near as good as yours come next summer, guess that'll depend on whether we get a proper summer here though, lol Cheers Steve |
