Musa Accuminata 'Dwarf Banana'
Hey
I just bought 15 seeds off an online shop where the seeds were marked simply as Musa Accuminata. When I looked on the packet when they arrived it said Musa Accuminata 'Dwarf Banana' I then looked around on the internet and found nothing about it. If anyone has any information about it like height and hardiness please post here. |

Re: Musa Accuminata 'Dwarf Banana'
I sure hope it's an M. acuminata, as some markets online out there will try and convince people things like the common "Dwarf Cavendish" have seeds and actually sell such. Those markets often label them as M. acuminata, since most dessert bananas once derived from that species, so the closest thing to call them is M. acuminata.

Re: Musa Accuminata 'Dwarf Banana'
I don't think that it will be cavendish as it is hard to get cavendish in the UK and much easier to get acuminata on any UK website.

Re: Musa Accuminata 'Dwarf Banana'
Cavendish also doesn't produce seeds. It may be an ornamental type like Velutina or Ornata.

Re: Musa Accuminata 'Dwarf Banana'
Of course it doesn't, that's the point of my warning in that there's plenty seed vendors out there that sell "seeds" to normal edible bananas, but seem to generalize the cultivar yet always give them the name M. acuminata. This warning is based on the assumption the buyer had not received the seeds yet to judge.
