Default Multiple frowers from one pseudostem?

Hi all,
Multiple flowers from one pseudostem,....I didn't know it was possible, but apparently it is!
Jockel aus Bruchsal

Has anyone seen this before?
I can imagine that it would greatly improve the yield of edible bananas if they did this!
Kind regards,
Remko.

Musa Double (Mahoi) can send up 2 or 3 flowers after you have harvested from that corm once.

Here is easy way to translate text or web page!

Holy schnitzengruben! Is that a Mahoi or something else? I have only seen yellow blossoms on Lasiocarpa and Superbum.
Was ist das?

They are great pics. It seems to me from the color and the shape of the buds
that they are Musa Basjoos or a sport variety of its species.
Although I know that some bananas like Double Mahoi etc produce multiple
flowers on one pseudostem, I have neither seen nor known that Basjoo does
the same thing.
Anyway it's wonderful!

Its a mutant M. basjoo, not Mahoe (false or true). True Musa 'Mahoe' has not been seen in a long time and it may be extinct. The 'Double Cavendish' is also sometimes called 'Mahoe' or 'Mahoi', but it is not the original one grown by the native Hawaiians which also produced multiple bunches of fruit from a single pseudostem. There are a couple of other varieties that do this, but they are rare. This sort of mutation could happen to any variety though, just as any variety may be variegated.

I found this on the cover of a French banana science journal. I looked in the whole thing, and besides the fact I don't speak French, I couldn't find any info on what the cover was of specifically. It looks like a double bunched plantain, I dont know if this was just a single occurrence or if it is a normally multiple-bunched variety.

I grow the Mahoi;
there are pictures in my gallery.
The Mahoi is a Dwarf Cavendish and usually flowers at 6 feet or 2 meters.
The plant in the picture is very large, larger than any I have.
Maybe they're just lucky!
