Micro Climates with other plants and banana varities ?
Has anyone had any success with creating micro climates with different banana or plant species ? Dryer vents etc ? Best / simplest methods ?

This is probably beyond the scope of the average homeowner but at one of the McMenamins hotels in Portland, OR (I am pretty sure, definitely PNW) between their year round heated swimming pool and the main hotel building they had a decent sized strip of tropical plants including some very tall bananas (assuming basjoo but it was quite a number of years ago before I was growing bananas so didn't ask). If I am remembering correctly it was during one of the cold months because I don't think I would have been so impressed if it was summertime.
