Re: Maurelii

Way to expensive I could have got you one close to that size for a $1, do you ever make it close to Raleigh. I agree with Gabe that was probaby a TC in Jan. Common down to Raleigh late next August it will be worth the trip.

Re: Maurelii

When we sell large ones like that, if the customer calls ahead we ask them to bring an old bed sheet, then we wrap it around the plant. Many of them call ahead to see what's available when they want a big one like that.
If it's an impulse buy, we usually take the larger potting soil bags and cut the bottom out of them and then set the plants inside the bag, pull the bags up and it scrunches the leaves together and use those for shipping sleeves. Usually if it's a tall plant like that one, we'll use 2 bags.
Did you know you actually can get a 7 foot tall bordelon inside a car already full of personal belongings because they're a college student moving to the southern part of the state? We did that the other day!

Re: Maurellii

Carolina i have 3 Ensest Ventricosum they are the same as the Maurellii just a green Version. They are in pots i just bring them inside for the winter and put them under plant lights they are doing grate. They tolerate a wide variate of light levels from my experience. Out of all my Bananas the Ensest seem to be the turfiest of them all so far but i don't have all that many variates. as for the 99$ thing i think thats a ridiculous price yes its a nice sized plant but you can get a baby for under 20$ and it will be better off because its young and can grow relatively stress free in its new location. Standered rule of thumb and this gos for all garden plants the more mature a plant is the more stress it will experience when transplanted. A plant that size in such a small pot doesn't have enough roots to support that much foliage if i put that plant out side here it would wilt right away from a lack of roots. I think thees are good rules for choosing all plants from garden centers green houses. I know we all want to get big plants but we should resist this temptation buy them small and grow them big you will get more productivity from the plants. This is just my opinion so pleas don't any one bash me if you don't agree
